Good Eats At Home with Chef Shane

Dave - February 22, 2009

Shane Gibson promised to teach us how to cook several Thai food dishes, this was over a month ago. Shane still says he will have a few of us over soon for a Thai cooking #tweetup. Until then he sent us this video on how to make “Som Tom Malagor” or Green Papaya Salad. His son Kristian (8 years old) was the camera man and surprisingly did a great job. You can see and hear his wife Wannapan, manager of the Urban Thai Bistro “managing” Shane through the process. Here’s Chef Shane’s debut video on Tastingvancouver TV.

Recipe

1 Green Papaya
2 Limes
3-5 Garlic Cloves
2 inch block of Raw Cane Sugar
2 Thai Chilis (fresh)
2 Tsp. Fish Sauce
1/2 bag of freeze dried shrimp
1 Tomato
(Cooked peaunuts usually included but Shane is not big on nuts)
