About Us
Tasting Vancouver is Vancouver’s newest online restaurant guide, focusing on all restaurants downtown and its surrounding areas. Restaurant listings contain basic restaurant information including the location, contact information, map, menu and photos. They also include a section for reviews (both great and not so great!)
Want to help out? Great! Because we rely 100% on the online community for their input to food and restaurants. So your input is greatly appreciated!

I’m Teresa and have been in the digital realm for several years now. I breath, work, and live anything and everything web. Currently, I am a Project Manager for a local digital agency aka ‘we make teh internet’:) On the side, I enjoy reading up on the latest interaction design, social media, and internet marketing trends. What I like about being in the New Media world is that it lets me indulge in my creative, technical, and business sides. I also take advantage of our seasonal weather by snowboarding during the winters and hyperventilating up the Grind during the summers. And then there is my alter-ego: the foodie. I love the Vancouver food scene and proud that we have such a strong culinary community. From trying out different restaurants to experimenting with cooking, I take joy in having food as an important aspect of my daily life. Local chefs and industry insiders like Vij, Rob Clark, and Andrew Morrison are like rock stars to me. My fondness for anything sweet and savoury has led me to this pretty nifty well rounded food site. It’s a great avenue to share with you all my dining findings and home-cooking musings. I hope you enjoy my novice food blogging. So welcome and happy reading and eating

I’m a passionate foodie who loves all that Vancouver has to offer, whether from sampling the smogasboard of restaurants or messing around with whatever I have in the kitchen.
Previously I have been involved in doing IT process management for software companies, but now I am focusing on freelance writing for the technical and food industries. I have written for various publications and sites locally and I blog regularly at EthnicEats.ca, which chroncles Vancouver’s diverse ethnic restaurants. Tasting Vancouver is at the crux of my interests in food and local dining and eating and I am delighted to be on board as a contributor.

I’ve been eating for over 32 years and enjoying (almost) every bite. I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to eat some amazing meals in over 20 countries which have always been shared with good friends – and I’ve been blessed with a cast iron stomach as my loyal sidekick. Raised by an architect dad designing restaurants and a mum with amazing kitchen skills, I’ve been gifted with a taste for the yummy things in life. Unfortunately my sweet mum did give me food poisoning twice. Her weapons of choice? Homemade egg nog and an egg salad sandwich that may have been past their prime. However, she still remains my undisputed kitchen hero and biggest influencer and has inspired many meals in my life.
I love discovering new places and making them old favourites, exploring the wonderful markets that Vancouver has to offer and crafting recipes to match the inspiring offerings. I also love a fabulous pot of coffee, have been known to knock down a bottle of wine of two and wrangle my friends into Sunday dinners every week.
Thanks for having me, I’m looking forward to sharing those experiences and a few recipes along the way! Happy eating!

Claire Desmarais
My name is Claire Desmarais, and I am serving as a voice for the slew of “starving students” in Vancouver, particularly those constantly trying to balance living a realistic student lifestyle without completely depriving themselves of their passion for good food and drink! I am currently a student of the Hospitality Management program at Vancouver Community College. I’ll have my diploma in 2010. Before VCC, I achieved an Associate of Arts Degree in Global Stewardship from Capilano University. Throughout those two and a half years, I was introduced to concepts and ideas such as globalization and food security, that influenced my current values related to food.
I am a co-host of a radio program called The Voracious Ear, which covers various local events and topics related to the Food & Beverage Industry, and plays some great music as well. The program is every second and fourth Monday of the month at 7:00pm on 90.1 FM (93.9 cable) or www.cjsf.ca. One of my co-hosts is my dear friend Aryana Sye. She and I share a shameless enthusiasm for gastronomy. My boyfriend, Sam Carter, takes care of audio production, and contributes to the content as well. Aryana is the daughter of a restaurateur, and Sam moved from eating Yorkshire puddings in England, to working in the kitchen of Meinhardt Fine Foods. I think the combination of our various backgrounds, bound together by a collective love for food and music, produces something worth listening to, so tune in!
I expect at least some of my blogs will be related to events and topics I will be covering for The Voracious Ear. Other than that, I’m excited to use this blog as a platform to share my favourite Vancouver dining experiences, and delve in to current issues related to what we are eating. Thank you for reading, and bon appétit!
